Surprise Mini VSN

Tonight Jenn and Lori hosted a surprise challenge for the Mini VSN.
"Our challenge to you is to choose at least 3 dessert items from the list and have at it. Show us what you've got when there are no calories to contend with.

Buttons
Brads
Glitter
Dew Drops
Punches
Sewing
Ribbon
Eyelets
Rhinestones
Die Cuts, Whatever you can think of . . . . Accessorize it, baby!"

I finished my card with 7 seconds left on the timer. Well.....I would have added more, but with only 2 minutes left I went with the orange gel pen to create a border around the image because I didn't have time to think about what else I could add. You gotta love the pressure of a 45 minute time limit during VSN.

Details:
Stamps: Life is Sweet by GinaK
Card Stock: Kiwi Kiss, Tangerine Tango, PTI White, BasicGrey Cupcake
Ink: Brilliance Graphite Black, Copic Markers
Accessories: Ticket corner punch, Orange gel pen, Stardust Gel Pen, Metal Dots

I hope to play along with the challenges tomorrow. We'll see if the rugrats cooperate. I have it marked on the calendar that we will make cards, so they may decide to play along. If I can't play I will at least be at my computer chatting along.

Friday Fun Challenge #29

Hi all! This is the last challenge I am hosting this month. So you will get a break from my ideas for a while. Since May is just around the corner I figured it was time to celebrate the April Showers that will bring those beautiful May flowers. To play along, you need to make a card that uses some sort of embellishment that mimics the shiny wet look of rain, rain dots, dew drops, Chrystal Effects, glaze pen, clear embossing powder or anything else you can come up with, as long as it is shiny and looks like rain. Don't forget to use the keyword FFC29 when uploading to SplitcoastStampers, or provide a link to your blog in my comment section.

I really took the April Shower theme literally with my creation, probably because we had some wicked rain storms earlier this week to put me in the mood. I used the Hanna Stamp set "Rain Rain Go Away." Hanna has some of the best boots EVER. I would love these boots and matching ensemble. I think the little ducky is thinking about jumping into that puddle to play.

How I did it

First, I stamped my Hanna image and then masked off the boots to stamp the puddle and lastly added the duck. After coloring the images with my Copics, I stamped the rain drops with VersaMark and used Clear Embossing powder to give them a wet look. Then I colored in my sky and created the ground as well. By coloring after I embossed it made the rain drops stand out a little bit, but not quite as much as I really wanted them to, so I added a little bit of my Stardust gel pen to the center of each of the rain drops to give them a little sparkle. I went over the puddle with my clear glaze gel pen and highlighted it with the Stardust pen. I mounted my image on Pacific Point and Certain Celery card stock. The background paper is from K & Co Urban designer paper pad. I like the way the paper looks a little muddled like it was in the rain (in my mind at least.) The Certain Celery Twill Ribbon form Sale-A-Bration adds a little element on the left and clear Rain dots adorn the right side corners of the card.

Pokie Dot Tea Party!

We had a tea party with one of my neighbors today. Naturally, I had to stamp something, even if it was just for us.

This is a shot of the table. Notice that the girls had to have their tea set out.

Here you can see the name cards and candy holders. They were filled with Hershey Kisses, and Reganne ate every single one of hers. The treat bags were cut from Pink Pirouette DSP using my Cricut and the Tags Bags Boxes and More cartridge.

Here is a close up of just the name cards.

Details:
Stamps: Crazy for Cupcakes
Paper: Close to Cocoa, Whisper White, Pretty Little Papers from AMuse
Accessories: Copics, Stardust Gel Pen, Silver Gel Pen, Stampin' Dimensionals

Notice all the Pokie Dots I used. So this is my REAL submission for the FFC this week. Hehehe!

Friday Fun Challenge #28

Happy Friday!

Pokey Dots-My girls are on a Pokey Dot kick lately. I recently received an order from AMuse with Cottage polka dot reverse Pretty Little Papers and the girls insisted that those were their papers. "Those are too small for Mommy. These are just ours." Can you blame them? Look how cute these 2x4 papers are.

This week's challenge is to create a card with polka dots on it somewhere, background paper, accents, ribbon, or go crazy with a gel pen.

This may not be my best card ever. It was somewhere around midnight when I was working on it and while I had some good ideas, I'm not sure that it all came together that well, I needed to pay just a little more attention to some of the details and my brain wasn't working very well at that point. What is kinda cute is that on the image I used a clear gel pen on all the chocolate parts to make them a little shiny. I also used the stardust gel pen on the candy wrappers to give them a little sparkle. It's not a bad card, just not my best work. I made some more "pokey dot" creations for the tea party I am having with my girls this afternoon. I will post some of those pictures later.

Friday Fun Challenge #27

Today we have a color challenge. Create a card using purple as you main color. Purple is the color associated with royalty and therefor, associated with The Passion so I thought it would be appropriate today.

When I saw the cross and dove in Special Blessings, I had to get the set. I don't have any religious stamps because none ever spoke to me. This set is very elegant and very versatile. You may not be able to see it well in the photo, but I added some silver faux paper piercing in the corners of each layer just to add a little detail without over doing it.

Details
Stamps: All Holidays, Special Blessings
Paper: Elegant Eggplant, Basic Gray Textured CS, Whisper White, Old World Mat Stack.
Ink: Elegant Eggplant, Going Gray
Accessories: Silver Gel Pen, Silver Sheer Ribbon

Friday Fun Challenge #26

Hi all! Today was my turn to host the Friday Fun Challenge. This week it is spring garden time. The bulbs in my garden are beginning to bloom. Spring is in the air! Create a card using your floral stamps. Even if you aren't a flowery person we all have a couple in our stash.

I actually made my card on Wednesday night since I am traveling this weekend. Guess who never took a picture of the card. That would be me. I think I have the card with me, but it is raining outside so I don't feel like standing in the rain digging through the supplies I brought. I will find it and post the picture later....I promise!

It's finally here! Sorry about the delay, things were a bit crazy while I was traveling. It's good to be home.

Details
Stamps: Kindred Spirits, Amazing to Zany
Paper: kiwi kiss, chocolate chip, whisper white
Ink: kiwi kiss, chocolate chip
Accessories: large and small oval punch, brown ribbon, antique brass brass, paper piercer
