Cool Summer Treat

Don't you just love a nice ice cream cone on a hot summer evening? My Dad had a savings account set up for me when I was a kid and he put money into it every month. When the bank statements came it didn't mean much to me that I had money for later, I wanted something NOW. He would tear off the return address and write on it "I O U 1 DQ." Now THAT meant something to me. I would save those little pieces of paper like they were gold, and on hot summer evenings I would pull one out and my Dad and I would go get Dairy Queen for the family.

So on these warm summer nights I have been inspired to make an ice cream card. I just got these Unity Stamps and had to use them. The image seems so clean and almost childlike which was perfect for what I was going for. I also wanted to play with this weeks sketch challenge (SC234).

Details:
Stamps: Unity Stamp Company
Ink: AMuse Pitch Black, Copic Markers
Paper: Rose Red, Pink Piroette, White, Raspberry Tart

Friday Fun Challenge #38

This week our challenge was “Take me out to the ballgame.” Make a card using your favorite (or local) baseball team as inspiration! I do love baseball, and my favorite team is actually The Cleveland Indians, however I feel like I have already made a few Red, White and Blue cards lately. Since I now live in Baltimore I decided to think of the Orioles, but their colors are Orange and Black and that makes me think of Halloween. Ok, my nephew plays ball what are his team colors? Orange and black. Wait, there is one last hope. The minor league team in Frederick, Maryland, The Frederick Keys. What are their colors? Orange and Black :( So I decided it was fate and I was meant to think outside the box and make an orange and black card this week.

I figured I can save this and send it to my nephew for his birthday next year, so it's a teenage boy card, but I couldn't resist using just a bit of yummy orange ribbon on it.

Friday Fun Challenge #35

June is Jimmi's month to present the Friday Fun Challenges. Today we was an inspiration challenge based on this picture.

I really like the colors and the basic layout of the items in this picture. Here is my translation.

Nothing special about the way I made this card. I liked the pattern on the brown pillow so that is how I chose the Boho Background stamp set. I really love the old shutter they have as a room divider/organizer. I chose the striped dsp behind the main panel to mimic that look. I added the upper shelf to my card using the word window punch.

Details:
Stamps: Boho Backgrounds, Live Like You Mean It
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Chip Dsp, Baja Breeze, Pink Pirouette, Whisper White
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze, Pink Pirouette
Accessories: 1 3/8" Circle Punch, 1 1/4" Circle Punch, Word Window Punch, Stamp-a-majig, Flower Brads, Chocolate Chip Wde Ribbon
