White Christmas

I have been challenged to make an all white card following the Limited Supply Challenge for December 4, LSC249, and to use a stamp we just HAD to have but have not used yet.
Here are your requirements and limits:

  • 1. Only White Cardstock!
  • 2. Only White or Clear embellishments
  • 3. No patterned paper, unless it's all white!
  • 4. You may use any color ink you wish, but only ONE color.
  • 5. No coloring (i.e. copics, watercolors, etc)
  • 6. Limit your layers/embellies (I'll leave that to your discretion, but ya'll know what I mean)
Well, I'm actually not sure if I used this stamp before or not, but I did buy an embossing folder kit that I intended to use and just never did.  SO here is my card.

Yes, I actually made my own embossing folder, isn't that cool?  I got the embossing folder kit a while ago and never played with it, when I saw this challenge I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it.

I also recently picked up the Joys of the Season Cricut Cartridge and used that to cut the deer.  I free-handed the border with my Fiskars paper trimmer and this is what my custom folder looks like:

I have been able to produce 20 cards in an hour including an inside sentiment.  Now I just need to sign, address, postage stamp and add a picture of the kids and they will be ready to send.......I hope to get them out before Christmas ;)

Friday Fun #60

Since we are in the midst of the Holiday Season and the all the celebrating and food that goes along with it, our challenge this week was to make a card with food on it.  This is a quickie card using Lili's Sleepover from Inky Impressions.  Notice that Lily is holding a bowl of popcorn perfect for stringing up and putting on the tree.

What you can't see in the photo is how glitterific this card is.  I highlighted all the white areas of the Cottage Wall Decorative Paper with my Stardust Gel Pen.  The sparkle adds enough of a high light that no other accessories were needed.

Stamps: Lili's Sleepover, Inky Impressions

Friday Fun #59

Gee. So sorry I am late.  I have to admit with all the hustle and bustle this week I actually forgot that today was Friday and didn't have my project for today done in advance.  Bad Bad Blogger :(

Today's challenge was to make a card using Black and White and a splash of Red in honor of Black Friday.  This card has a little of everything thrown at it.  I used the Snowflake Cuttlebug Folder, Accent Essentials Cricut Cartridge, Martha Stewart Snowflake border punch, Large Oval Punch, I embossed with my cutter, I used Stickles AND some crystals.  The only thing I didn't use was some ribbon.  After all, I didn't want to go overboard.

This card also fits the criteria for this week's Crazy 4 Challenges Saturday challenge to use punches.

Paper: Shimmery White, Black
Ink: Real Red Craft Ink
Accessories: Snowflake Cuttlebug Folder, Accent Essentials Cricut Cartridge, Martha Stewart Snowflake border punch, Large Oval Punch, I embossed with my cutter, Stickles AND some crystals.

Friday Fun #58

This week our challenge is to make small cards or gift card.  I made a little 4.25" square card.  I just got this stamp from Tracy this week and had to use it right away.  You know I don't do Clean and Simple well, but I have CAS visions with this stamp in my head.  Scary, huh?

Entering the Digital Age

I am taking a digital scrap booking class from Jessica Sprague (http://www.jessicasprague.com/). In the next few weeks you will see my class assignments posted here on my blog.

My first assignment is to write down my goals and values for this Holiday Season.  Since the class will be focusing on the Holidays it is good to make sure we stay focused.  I gave this some thought this afternoon and I have decided that my goal for this Holiday Season is to focus on memories and traditions.  I know some days we think about doing projects and to pass down traditions to our kids, but then we get distracted.  Or for me, I think, "We can do that next year, they are too young." or "It will make too much of a mess."  or "They aren't cooperating toady we'll do it tomorrow, or the next day or the next day..." I have recently realized that even with our kids we never know what tomorrow brings so we need to make every opportunity count.

Our next assignment is to commit to take 20 minutes a day EVERY DAY in December to journal, photograph, scrap, record and remember.

What does that mean?  You will potentially be seeing a lot of posts from me in the coming weeks.

Friday Fun #57

Greetings from Texas!!!  I am visiting one of my SplitCoast friends this weekend Linda aka SpicyGingerSnap, so I apologize for being a little late today.   This week our challenge was to make some place cards to go with our upcoming turkey feasts.

Here are some super easy place cards that I made for us.  You may notice that there are only 4, but I just didn't think that Peanut needed a place card for her high chair.  Anything you put on her tray she eats, even the bowls, forks, paper etc. so I don't think she needed a place card this year.

Have a great weekend.  Don't forget to check out the other Friday Fun Chicks.  Please keep Jimmi and her family in your thoughts today as they lay her grandmother to rest.  {{HUGS}} to Jimmi.

Friday Fun #56

This is Christi's second week on the team and she is hosting for the month of November.  Nothing like easing her into it ;)  This week we had a real challenge.  We were to create a card using woodland creatures for fall.  The challenge for me was finding some creatures I could use.  Reindeer hang out in the woods, right?  And even though it is fall there is snow up north right?  And candy canes are all year right?  Good.  I think I nailed this one then :)

You can see the snowflakes shine a bit with the stardust gel pen.  I think that is my favorite accessory.  I also used the clear gel pen on the nose, eyes, mouth and the candy cane to make them stand out a little more.

I had a little trouble coloring last night so disregard that.  If any of you Copic Certified folks can tell me why the pigment sometimes sits on top of the paper and wont smooth out, please let me know.

Stamps:  Candy Cane Reindeer-Inky Antics
Paper: Brocade Blue, White, Christmas Mat Slab V
Ink: Amuse Black, Copic Markers
Accessories: Glaze Gel Pen, Stardust Gel Pen, White Gel Pen, Blue Grosgrain Ribbon, Snowflake Brad.
