Amazing Weekend Sketch

This is my first time trying one of the Weekend Sketch Challenges. As you know I haven't had the best time trying to stamp lately, so I was hoping that the clean, uncomplicated design would help me get my motivation back.

I just bought the K&Co Urban paper this week. I pulled the colors from the designer paper. The dimensions of this card are 5.5" square. I like working with this size as it allows me to use some larger images and not have it be too overwhelming. I can use a greeting card sized envelope to mail. I stamped off the flower image twice before stamping it on the Very Vanilla, and stamped off the Chocolate Chip once for the background flowers.

Rainy Day Sketch

This week our Sassy/Fab Friends challenge was a sketch challenge, and last week was to make a rain themed card (April Showers.) I was unable to do last weeks challenge and was a little late with this weeks as well, so I decided to combine them.

I used Hanna Stamps "Rain Rain Come this Way" stamp set which seemed to be quite appropriate. I stamped my image using Brilliance Graphite Black, colored with Copic Markers, then used my Coluzzle to cut out the image and the Apricot Appeal layer. I paper pierced the background circle and then faux stitched using a white gel pen. The dsp I used was Soft Sky and it is all mounted on a Certain Celery Base. In the corners I used some light blue Rain Dots to accent the piece.

It's VSN Again

It's another Virtual Stamp Night Weekend (VSN) over on SplitCoastStampers. I took a break from hostess duties this time around because I knew I didn't have much time. It was nice to be able to participate in real time. I only got to finish 4 projects since my wonderful husband is away and I had to chase the girls all day, but at least I got to do 4. I may try to finish a few more Sunday afternoon during nap time.

Faux Linene Dreams

Another late challenge card for my Fab/Sassy Friends. I have been really bad. Sorry about that. This week the challenge was to use any faux technique. I chose the faux linen technique.

First I stamped the Canvas Background in Groovy Guava on Glossy cs, then I sanded the piece. I started out roughing up the background with my sanding block, but I think that the grit is too fine so then I went to medium grade sandpaper. In the future I will just do the sandpaper and I think it will help the effect. Once it was all sanded I sponged So Safron onto the piece to highlight the scratches. I then stamped my images and trimmed the piece.

Wearing the Green

It's Wednesday, time for another Sassy Challenge! This week to celebrate St Patrick's Day the challenge was to make a card using all greens and neutrals. I think Riley Moose is just too cute. I will be sending this card to my brother and sister-in-law.

I am desperately trying to pay more attention to the small details on my cards. If there is any way they can be improved, please let me know. On this one I wanted to mimic the argyle pattern in the way I placed the brads, I also made sure that the corner brads were all diamond oriented while the center was square. I had to be sure that all the layers were just the right size. I cut down the center layer to assure that the ribbon was on it without any extra letters on one end or the other. Then I had to trim my image piece and those accompanying layers to assure that there was enough room for a border around them. I really am trying...and in the end I thik my cards will be better for it.

Ooooops Dahlia Card

Ooops, sorry, I forgot to post this on Wednesday. Here is this weeks card for another challenge with my Sassy/Fab Friends. This week our challenge was to try the dahlia fold technique. As I was doing this card I was cursing out the person that decided that this would be a great challenge....then I realized that the person was me. Oooops again. This of course was a bit intimidating and a little time consuming, but I think the results are pretty nice.

I didn't do any actual stamping on this card. For the background I used a Cuttlebug folder and then sponged some white craft ink over the raised images to give it more pop. I actually messed mine up. The folds are not quite right making the petals tighter than they should be so I had to add an extra petal to even it out. Oooops yet again. I guess that is a common theme this week ;)
