Crazy for Challenges 4

I am quite impressed with myself that I was able to do another C4C challenge. I have really had fun this month doing Cindy's wonderful sketches. I can't wait to see what is in store next month. I started this card Saturday afternoon for my husband for our anniversary today (12 years, WOW!) but had to wait to post it until after I gave it to him. I couldn't let him see it blogged before it was in his hands, could I?

Friday Fun Challenge # 50

Wowza! Fifty Friday's of fun! Yeah! This Sunday is also my Twelfth Wedding Anniversary. I still can't believe it. I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful person to share my life with. In honor of my anniversary my challenge to you this week is to make a card with 12 embellishments on it. They don't all have to be the same, but you need to have AT LEAST 12. Once you get past the number and start creating, it is actually quite easy to do.

I decided to try this weeks sketch challenge again (SC247), this time on purpose (see my last post) and to use another new Inky Antics stamp. Isn't Sundae boy just too cute? If I was going to make a sundae what better paper to use then BasicGrey's Cupcake? I love the little sprinkles in the background.

I used more than 12 embellishments. I ended up with a whopping 19! I love those cute little stick-on rhinestones. They make blinging it up so easy.

SC247-Twighlight Zone

I actually made this card last night, after having cut the pieces for it Thursday for the FFC and then deciding my leaf image didn't fit the sketch I had in my head. So I went to work last night creating this card so I could have time to play along with the sketch challenge today. I open the the thread only to find that the sketch is the card I made last night and hadn't posted yet. That is too wild. I just had to post this now even though technically this card is for this week's FFC. I guess you all got a preview and I will be making a new one now to fit the challenge :)

Pink Ribbon Challenge and WSC98

Team Fort Meade has been issuing challenges to one another recently just for fun. This round was my turn since I had won the last round. My challenge was to create a card using pink ribbon in some way in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month coming up in October. I combined this with the Weekend Sketch Challenge and created a great card to send to a girlfriend just because.

Inside: "And...Chocolate wins again!"

Crazy 4 Wine

I told you I was going to do it. I am catching up today after a couple days of cleaning and now I am stamping again and trying to get in all the weekend challenges I said I was going to do. That means you will see at least one more card from me today and a couple more the next few days. This card is for Crazy4Challenges third sketch challenge.

Last night we went to a neighbors house for a little wine fest. It was a great excuse to get together with friends and to drink a lot of wine. I made this card as a Thank You note. I'm sure my personality was grately improved last night as the inside sentiment suggests.

Friday Fun #49

"Leave Me Alone"

Ok, not really. This week's challenge theme is Leave me Alone. The weather has seemed to changed this past week, as if Mother Nature knows that school has started. I have even started to see some yellow leaves on the trees. In honor of Autumns approach I thought that this week it would be fun to make a card with a leaf or leaves on it. Bonus "points" for using Earth Elements color family and double bonus points for using a real leaf.

I figured I better go all out and get as many points as possible...hehe. I used More Mustard and Old Olive card stock and some old Christmas dsp. I am lacking in leaf stamps. In fact I could only find one and didn't like the shape. I went outside and picked 3 leaves off our maple tree and used them instead. I used my Copics and airbrush to make shadows on the background and then covered the back of the leaves in craft ink and stamped them onto the paper leaving a skeleton leaf imprint. I wish it were a little more bold, but like it just the same. Because the image was so busy I decided to keep the rest of the card very simple. I used my wide olive green grosgrain ribbon and wanted a bow or a not but it had to be flat. I simply folded a second piece of ribbon over the band and then used a third piece folded in half to wrap around it as the tie. I think this is a very simple, yet elegant ribbon treatment.

Stamps: None--I used actual leaves
Paper: White, More Mustard, Old Olive, dsp
Ink: Really Rust, Old Olive, More Mustard Craft inks, Copic Markers

Sketch Challenge #246

I told you I was going to do more challenges, so here is this weeks sketch challenge over at Splitcoast Stampers. I had to make a slight modification to the sketch and put the center panel as a diamond rather than a square and then mounted my image on top thus adding a layer, but the over all effect is the same.

I just think that this little turtle is the "tutu cute". She is another Inky Antics set called Princess Turtle. She has several different crowns that she can wear and flowers and butterflies and other accessories. The one thing she didn't have was a tutu, so I had to make her one. I used some pink sheer ribbon and cinched it with a piece of thread like you would do if you were sewing a skirt. I am thrilled that it came out so well. I adhered it with some ScoreTape and there you have it, the perfect tutu. This card was meant to be for my niece's 11th Birthday, but I'm not sure a tween would like it, so I may need to find her something else.

Crazy 4 Challenges #2

I saw this Saturday afternoon and got the idea immediately, I just needed to get some time to work on it, and unfortunately, that didn't happen until yesterday. AS soon as I finished the card, the plumber arrived and I ended up having to empty several shelves in the basement so everything got stacked on my desk, burying the poor little thing. At least Ronnie had plenty to drink and she doesn't seem to be too phased by the ordeal.

I went to the Stamp Scrap Art Tour on Saturday and bought several items from Inky Antics. They have several lines of stamps from pretty to quirky and sassy. I LOVE the sassy stamps the best. Those are cards I can make and send to my girlfriends. You will probably see me using a lot of their stamps in the coming weeks. Another great thing about this company is that they are based in Cleveland. Woohoo! Maybe that's why I connect to their stamps so well. They probably ARE my friends and family depicted in them.

I have resolved myself to do more challenges each week. I am determined that I will do the Crazy 4 Challenges and of course the Friday Fun Challenges, and want to do the Splitcoast Sketch Challenge and Weekend Sketch Challenge as often as possible. If you see me on-line and I am not just taking a quick sanity break from my kids, yell at me and tell me to get back into the basement and STAMP.

A few details that I wish you could see are on the margarita glass. I used the Glaze gel pen to go over it so it is shiny...like a glass. I also used my stardust gel pen around the rim of the glass to simulate the salted rim. I accented around the outer edges only of the focal squares with some stardust little squiggles.

Friday Fun #48

A card for Heroes~ On this day of remembrance lets remember the heroes among us. Make a card for a firefighter, police officer or military member.

I donate the vast majority of my cards to http://cardsforheroes.org/ or other organizations and individuals who make sure that service members overseas can send cards to loved ones.

I made these cards pretty quickly. I am working on my Clean And Simple skills and I wanted to be sure that these cards were easy to mail, no extra embellishments. I also kept in mind that men don't usually care about bling on their cards, so it was easy to keep these simple (not excluding the female service members, I have plenty of cards that are blinged up that I send too.)

First Crazy 4 Challenges Card

Today is the first Crazy 4 Challenges weekly card challenge. I hope to be able to participate in these challenges regularly as I know the group is super talented and will have some wonderful ideas.

I made this card following the sketch by Cindy Haffner at Crazy 4 Challenges and when I was done I looked up and saw some orange bath fizzies sitting on my desk that I just had to incorporate. I grabbed a little piece of acetate and used a few scraps and came up with the perfect little gift for a friend that needs to just take a break. There may be a few fizzies missing as I had to promise my girls they could use them in the bathtub tonight, but that was a small price to pay for being able to stamp this afternoon and getting to play along with this fun challenge.

A close up of the image. You can see a hint of the stardust gel pen outlining the bubbles giving just a hint of shine.

A close up of the fizzy holder. Extra little shreds of the decorative paper made from some scraps that I hand "crimped".

Friday Fun #47

Hello All! I am the Hostess for September's Friday Fun Challenges. I have a few fun things in store for you. School just started around here and I had so much fun picking out school supplies for the first time, that I decided the first challenge this month would be to use school/office supplies in some way on your card. I have a fun idea to try with the kids later, but this is my creation.

The school/office supplies are the paperclip and the brads. They were all silver and I used my Copic Airbrush and E39 marker to color them. Isn't that the coolest thing ever????

Paper: Very Vanilla, Dusty Durango, Soft Suade
Ink: Dusty Durango, Soft Suade, Copic E39
