Friday Fun Challenge #34

Happy Friday! Oh what a wonderful weekend I have planned! I am headed to the ribbon outlet today and am sure to bring back lots of fun stuff. Then on Sunday Friday Fun Chick Kim is coming down to see me and we are taking a Copic 101 class together. How fun is that?

So today is Kim's last week to hostess this month. Our challenge this week is to make a summer themed card. I had to dig through my stamps and reach WAAAAAYYYYY into the back of the cabinet for this one. My poor neglected Seaside Sketches really needed some love. I love the image of these two girls walking over the dunes. I imagine that to be my twins two weeks from now when we are at the beach...the only difference is that their hair has way more curl than the girls on the stamp. Notice those sand dollars? They are from another long neglected stamp set called Natures Wonders. I stamped them on white Polyshrink and colored and cut them out prior to shrinking them. I love it! I have had the package of polyshrink for at least 8 years and never even opened it. I'm so glad I finally did. I used my copics to color the image and the sand dollars, but for the sky I used my aqua painter and my Baja Breeze stamp pad.

When I looked at this weeks Sketch Challenge (SC230) over at Splitcoast I have to admit I was a bit scared. it looked like a lot of stuff on the card, but the samples were beautiful and Amber encouraged me that it wasn't so bad, so I gave it a try. I think the whole thing came together quite nicely.

Details:
Stamps: Seaside Sketches, Natures Wonders
Ink: Baja Breeze, Brilliance Graphite Black and Coffee Bean
Paper: Tangerine Tango, Baja Breeze, Creamy Caramel, PTI White, K&Co Urban dp
Accessories: Poly Shrink, Copics, Slit Punch, Label Punch, Oval punch, 1 3/8" circle punch, Linen thread, Aquapainter

Friday Fun Challenge #33

Hi all! Boy are my hands tired!!! I had a lot of fun last weekend doing the VSN challenges and then spent much of this week commenting on the wonderful creations in the gallery. Great Job to everyone that participated.

Now on to this week's FFC. Kim challenged us to make a card in red, white and blue in honor of Memorial Day being celebrated on Monday. This was a difficult task for me. Being a military family it seems like everyone likes to give us stars and stripes, red, white and blue items. Most times it is a sweet gesture, but just not our style. SO, rather than making a Memorial Day card that I would probably never use, I decided to use the colors a different way.

(sorry for the lousy picture, I will try to get a better one later today)

I LOVE this Hanna stamp. The official name is Domestic Goddess, but my friends thought it should be named after me when it first came out. In fact, when I showed this card to my husband last night his comment was, "But, you like to vacuum." What can I say? I really do like to vacuum, especially with my Dyson. I guess that's why it's so surprising that I haven't used this set in a very long time. You might notice that Hanna's hair is a little brighter, just in time for summer. Yes, the sun has added a little extra shine to our (mine and Hanna's) hair already this spring. I kinda like the sentiment clipped onto the side of the card like that, but since I can't get it into an envelope, I may add it to the inside instead.

Details:
Stamps: Domestic Goddess ~ Hanna Stamps, Riding Vacuum ~ Rubber Impressions
Ink: Brilliance Graphite Black
Paper: Pacific Point, Riding Hood Red, PTI White, Cupcake ~ Basic Grey
Accessories: Red and Blue Gel Pen, Copic Markers, Small Paperclip

Be sure to check out the other Friday Fun Team Cards. I have added the links to my side bar to make it easier for you all. If you are going to play along, please be sure to add FFC33 to your keywords and add a link in my comments. I would love to see what you can with this color scheme!

VIVA LAS VSN!

It's Vegas Weekend VSN Style. Woohoo! I am so excited for my mental weekend getaway. Let's jump right into the fun.

The first challenge tonight is called Double Down. The challenge is to create a set of 2 cards in 45 minutes AND have it be somehow Vegas Inspired. My set uses the Never Ever set from The Greeting Farm. Peter Pan and Tinkerbell are big in our house right now. I see the trilogy (Peter pan, Return to Neverland and Tinkerbell) of movies at least once a week. What do Peter Pan and Tinkerbell have to do with Vegas?? No clocks. Endless food Buffets. Lights, music and entertainment all around. It is an adult Neverland.

Details:
Stamps: Never Ever by The Greeting Farm (the images were RAKed to me, so no inking was done)
Paper: Certain Celery, Pumpkin Pie, Riding Hood Red, Lime Rickey from Basic Gray
Accessories: Copics

You know that it was VSN because I ran out of time to add any Stardust Glitter Pen or any embellishments. I like the cards just the way they are, but I may go back and accessorize them a bit later.

Friday Fun Challenge #32

This weeks challenge was presented by Kim. She asked us to use a neglected stamp set. She told us to make sure that it hadn't been used in at least 6 months. This worked out to be perfect timing. My cousin had a baby boy this week, and the nursery theme is Humpty Dumpty. I don't think I have Rhyme Time in at least three years, so I am sure it qualifies as being neglected.

This set was long neglected mainly because it wasn't easily colored. I could never get the colors right and it would just look like a mess. Thank Goodness for Copics. I think I can bring this set out again and keep it circulation now. This weeks sketch challenge SC 228 worked great with this image and isn't that Basic Gray Designer Paper too cute. It screams out to be used on a baby card.

We would love for you to play along with us. Please be sure to include the keyword FFC32 when you upload or provide a link in the comment section below so we can all see what you do.

Details FFC32:

Stamps: Rhyme Time, Congrats
Ink: Riding Hood Red, Brilliance Graphite Black, Copic Markers
Paper: Baja Breeze, Riding Hood Red, Kiwi Kiss, PTI White, Basic Gray Cupcake
Accessories: Kiwi Kiss Striped Ribbon, Stardust Gel Pen, Gold Gel Pen, Baby Charms

Friday Fun Challenge #31

This week we had another challenge presented to us by Kim. This week we were to make a Mother's Day card using the recipient's favorite color. I actually ended up making two cards, one for my mother and one for a very good friend of mine who helps me to be a better mother by being there to listen to me and give me a break once in a while. I actually like the second card better than the first, but that's ok, I know my mom will love her card because it was hand made by me :)

When I think of my mother I picture her wearing a Cameo Coral sweater set. I know I have purchased several for her over the years.

Details
Stamps: Kindred Spirits
Ink: Cameo Coral, Rose Red, Regal Rose
Paper: Cameo Coral, Rose Red, Regal Rose, Whisper White
Accessories: Cuttlebug Embossing Folder, Coral Ribbon, Scallop Edge Punch

Details

Friday Fun Challenge #30

Happy May! Kim is the hostess for our Friday Fun Challenges this month. Today the challenge was: "Since Cinco de Mayo is coming up, make a FESTIVE card using bright colors....yellow, red, blue, and green. Interpret festive to fit your design." These are not colors that I normally grab for, but I have a 3rd Birthday party to go to next week so this card should be perfect.

This was a very quick card today. I am anxiously waiting for my husband to return home after being away for 7 weeks, and have spent the past few days trying to clean and make the house look decent, you know, like I have done something over the past 7 weeks and not just sit and stamp ;)

What you can't see in the picture is the glitter gel pens that I have used. I added stardust to the flames and as an accent around the cake and the plate. I then used a blue pen on the candles, it matched perfectly. The ribbon also has gel pen for the dots. I have had the ribbon for quite a while. It was a Target $pot item. The dotes were originally white, pink and red. With the help of a yellow Copic Marker the white turned yellow and I used gel pens for the blue and to highlight the red. Now I have coordinating ribbon for my card.

Details:
Stamps: Birthday Whimsy
Ink: Yoyo Yellow, Real Red, Tempting Turquoise, Green Galore
Paper: Yoyo Yellow, Real Red, Green Galore, Whisper White, (Retired SU! dsp, I'm not sure of the name)
Accessories: Stardust, Red and Blue gel pens, ribbon
